Dr. Rachel Mikolas

Dr. Mikolas’ Veterinary Journey

Dr. Rachel Mikolas graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2023. Her passion for veterinary medicine developed through her love of animals, science, and helping people. While studying abroad in Tanzania during her undergraduate years, she participated in field observations and research involving elephants. This experience helped her realize that she wanted a more hands-on, clinical career where she could make a positive impact on animals every day. Dr. Mikolas is a Fear Free certified veterinarian and a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA).

Dr. Mikolas’ Career & Experience at Sploot

As an Associate Veterinarian at Sploot Veterinary Care in Denver, Dr. Mikolas has a wide range of clinical interests, including dentistry, surgery, feline medicine, preventive care, orthopedic conditions, nutrition, and senior pet care. She is particularly passionate about the human-animal bond and helping pets stay healthy throughout every stage of life.

Dr. Mikolas appreciates Sploot's all-in-one approach to veterinary medicine, Fear Free clinic environment, extended hours, and year-round availability. She also values the work-life balance that Sploot provides. Since joining the team, she has gained confidence and expanded her clinical experience in treating sick and urgent care patients, both during appointments and surgical procedures.

As a Sploot client, she also appreciates having access to top-tier, all-in-one care. She states: “Sploot has all of the necessary tools I have needed for my pets health. I give my dogs Cytopoint, which is a miracle worker for their allergies, and [the team] is always so helpful to get my own pets in immediately if anything comes up!“

Outside of Work

Outside the clinic, Dr. Mikolas loves downhill skiing, one of the main reasons she moved to Colorado. She also enjoys cooking, camping, and soaking up the sunshine. One of her favorite activities is taking her dogs on sunset walks. At home, she has four beloved pets: Pretzel, an 8-year-old Beagle mix who is an awesome cuddler; George, a 7-year-old Labrador/Pit Bull mix who has undergone multiple orthopedic surgeries; Evee, an 8-year-old tuxedo cat born with a rare heart defect; and Zuri, a 7-year-old tuxedo cat who loves perching on Dr. Mikolas's back.
