Pricing
Premium spay & neuter, minus the premium cost
Our price covers the whole surgery day, not just the procedure: anesthesia with a team watching your pet's vitals the entire time, an IV and fluids, pain relief before and after, take-home pain meds, and an e-collar. These are averages from real Sploot invoices, so your pet's tailored estimate may wiggle a bit with their species, size, and age. Your vet will walk you through it all at the pre-op exam.

Sploot’s price is the average SplootPack member price for a canine spay, from real Sploot invoices. It covers the whole surgery day, not just the procedure: anesthesia and monitoring, IV fluids, the hospital stay, pain control, take-home pain meds, and an e-collar. The pre-op exam and bloodwork happen at your consultation and are billed then. The comparison is the average price for a canine spay at other vets in our market. Your vet confirms a tailored estimate after the pre-op exam, and it can be higher or lower depending on your pet’s size and what they need.

Common questions
Spay & neuter, answered.
When is the best time to spay or neuter a dog?
Veterinarians typically recommend spay or neuter surgery for dogs that are 6 months or older. However, the best time to spay or neuter a dog will depend on various factors like breed, size, overall health, and so on.
When is the best time to neuter or spay a cat?
Most kittens can undergo spay or neuter surgery at around 5 months of age. However, veterinarians can adjust the recommended time based on your cat's individual needs.
What's the difference between spay and neuter surgeries?
The spay surgery, for female dogs and cats, involves the careful removal of the ovaries and uterus. Meanwhile, the neuter procedure involves the careful removal of the testicles in male dogs and cats.
Will my pet change after the spay or neuter surgery?
Your furry companion will still be themselves, just calmer, healthier, and less likely to display mating-related and territorial behaviors, including roaming, escaping, or urine marking.
Is anesthesia safe?
Yes! We do a pre-op physical exam and bloodwork as medical screening before the procedure. During the surgery itself, our expert team monitors your pet continuously to ensure their safety.
How long does recovery take?
Most pets feel back to normal in a day or two, with full recovery in around 10–14 days.
Do I need to come back for a recheck?
Yep! We'll schedule a quick follow-up to check your pet's healing and remove sutures if needed.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, CareCredit is available for spaying and neutering or any veterinary procedure at Sploot that's over $200.
Does SplootPack™ apply to spay and neuter surgeries?
Absolutely! You'll save on the consultation, procedure, follow-up check-up, and meds.
With the SplootPack, the pre-op consultation can be included as one of your 3 FREE exams (if they're not yet used). Additionally, a 10% discount can apply to the pre-op bloodwork, and a 25% discount applies to the spay or neuter procedure itself.
Can I spay or neuter an older pet?
Yes, some older pets can be spayed or neutered safely. However, this depends on their overall health, age, and other factors, which highlights the importance of the pre-op physical exam and bloodwork.
Do older dogs and cats benefit from spaying or neutering?
Older dogs and cats may not get the full preventive benefit of spay and neuter surgeries as puppies and kittens who undergo the procedure at a younger age.
However, there are still benefits for older pets, including the prevention of testicular cancer and uterine infection (pyometra), treating some hormone-driven or prostate issues, and some behavioral improvements.
Is spaying or neutering legally required?
In some places, yes. Denver requires dogs and cats over 6 months to be spayed or neutered (barring a medical exemption), and it's tied to pet licensing. Rules vary by city, so check your local municipality for the specifics where you live.
