Dr. Paaymans’ Veterinary Journey

Dr. Schuyler Paaymans graduated from Mississippi State University in 2018. His passion for veterinary medicine began at just 10 years old, when he decided that he wanted a career that would allow him to work with animals every day. Throughout his education, he remained dedicated to his childhood dream, combining his love for animals with a growing interest in science, medicine, and continuous learning. Today, Dr. Paaymans brings that same enthusiasm and commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality veterinary care for pets and their families.

Dr. Paaymans’ Career & Experience at Sploot

As a Clinic Medical Director at Sploot Veterinary Care in Colorado Springs, Dr. Paaymans values Sploot's all-in-one approach to veterinary medicine, which allows pets to receive comprehensive care in one convenient location. He also appreciates the clinic's extended hours and Fear Free environment, which helps make veterinary visits more comfortable for pets and their families.

His favorite part of working at Sploot is the opportunity for professional growth and continued learning. Since joining Sploot, Dr. Paaymans has received support in pursuing his leadership aspirations while expanding his knowledge and skills in advanced surgery, diagnostics, ultrasound, and behavioral medicine. As a Sploot client himself, he has also experienced the benefits of having access to advanced diagnostic services and specialty referrals for his own pets, including care related to cancer, liver disease, kidney disease, and orthopedic fractures.

Outside of Work

Outside the clinic, Dr. Paaymans enjoys a wide variety of hobbies, including gardening, home improvement projects, paddleboarding, skiing, riding motorcycles, and playing board games and video games. He also spends plenty of time caring for his diverse family of pets, which he affectionately describes as a little suburban zoo!

His dogs include Pavo, an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix who comes from a working lineage of herding dogs and serves as a self-trained service dog; Xenon, a 7-month-old Australian Cattle Dog; and Aether, a 5-month-old Samoyed. He also shares his home with Jellybean, an agile 15-year-old cat who still loves running around the house. Rounding out the household are two ferrets, a crested gecko, eight chickens, and a hive of bees. With so many beloved animals to care for, Dr. Paaymans's passion for animal health and well-being extends well beyond his work at Sploot.
